This region is said to boast the highest annual sunshine in France (300 days has been claimed). The winter is short, really only December and January but these months can be very cold. Spring and autumn days can be beautiful with really warm sunshine. June, July and August are, of course, the hottest time of the year, with average daytime temps. in the high 20s, although they can reach the mid 30s at times. There are occasional times when a strong north westerly wind, The Tramontane, blows for several days consecutively, but this brings fine, clear weather and can be a welcome relief from a spell of Mediterranean heatwave !
