Sunbathing & Swimming
The whole of the western end of the Mediterranean, from the Carmargue to the Spanish border offers a wide selection of uncrowded beaches, warm seas and pleasant, generally, small resorts. The nearest resort to Autignac is Valras, approx 40 mins away which, apart from a superb beach, has childrens amusements, including a summer fun fair on the beach, canoe and pedelo hire, ample cafes and restaurants on the promenade etc. A little to the north lies Serignan plage, where there is little in the way of facilities but, the beach, backed by dunes, is, if anything, even better than Valras and inclues a naturist area.
When the weather gets too hot and sticky for the beach, you can head up into the Regional Parc du Haut Languedoc and enjoy sunbathing, swimming and the water facilities of several lakes in the park. These are within an hour's drive and the weather is noticeably cooler and fresher than on the coast.
