There are various ways to reach us if arriving at Carcassonne. The following is as direct as possible, is pretty and cross country but some of the roads from the Capestang turnoff as narrow in places and should be negotiated with a degree of care! Total distance from the airport to our house is 95 kilometres by this route. For alternatives and for information on the region generally, try the website www.francekeys.com.

It is advisable to avoid the working city of Carcassonne, especially in rush hours and this is easily done by joining the A61 autoroute for one junction, in an easterly direction,. From the airport, you have to turn right onto the main road, 200 metres to a traffic island, right round this and back the way you came, past the airport and look for the blue autoroute sign on your right after another 200 metres or so. Take this slip road to join the autoroute at junction 23. . After taking a ticket, follow the signs to Narbonne and Barcelona (and not those to Toulouse!). The autoroute takes you past Carcassonne and look for “La Cite” on your left. Exit the autoroute at the next junction, 24, where you rejoin the N113 on the approach to Trebes. The toll is nominal, payable in Euros on exit.

On the approach to Trebes, pass under the railway bridge, then look for and take a left turn towards "centre ville" and Marseillette. Cross the river in Trebes and bear right, cross it again as you leave the town and you are on the D610 to Marseillette. Pass through Marseillette, following the D610 signposted Pulcheric and Olonzac. Continue on the D610, which eventually changes to the D11 then D5, right through to Capestang.

When approaching Capestang, look for and take a left turn signposted D16 Puisserguier. In Puisserguier, follow the green Beziers sign, N112, through the village. Approx. 2 km out of the village, the road becomes dual carriageway and after a further 1km look to move to the left hand lane to turn left on to the D16 to Cazouls, taking care to look out for traffic approaching from the opposite direction! Follow the "autres directions" into the village and turn left at a T junction onto the D14 Murviel road. Towards the far end of the village of Cazouls look carefully for and take a right turn, the D16 to Murviel - the entrance is partly concealed and easy to miss! (care – this next stretch of road is currently closed, spring 2007, for bridge repairs – contact us for by-passing the road closure).

Continue towards Murviel, until you aproach a T junction, where you turn left onto the D19 towards Murviel village. In the village, follow the "toutes directions" sign then the D16 sign to St. Genies de F. In St Genies, follow the D16 sign to Autignac.

Follow Autignac signs to the village. Turn left at the first T-junction as you approach the village, with a wine co-operative in front of you. Proceed for approximately 400 metres towards village centre, looking for small right hand turn signposted Lentheric/St Nazaire on the wall as you turn. Turning is called Rue de la Paix and the entrance is very narrow.

Proceed for approximately 150 metres, to T-junction. Turn left and immediately right into Rue Frederic Mistral.

Proceed for 100 metres and where the road spilts, bear left to the bottom, where there is a T-junction into Chemin de St Nazaire.

Turn left down a steep bank for only approximately 20 metres. The entrance to our property, number 5, is via a lane between two houses, with gates at the end (approx 60 metres). Number 3 is next door (there is no number 4).

For those preferring to travel by autoroute as much as possible, join the A61 as above, east to Narbonne and then the A9 north to Montpellier, exiting at junction 36 Beziers Oest (west). Please then refer to the directions from Perpignan airport, for the rest of the journey to Autignac.
